Steps for writing an essay
1. Understand and know the topic – ask for help in the very beginning!
2. Connect ideas using a pre-write activity – outline, brainstorm, etc.
3. Write your first draft – This should NEVER be the same as the final draft
4. Proof read the first draft – Re-read, checking for strong word choice, organization, developed ideas, correct conventions, your voice, and sentence fluency.
5. Edit the first draft – Add, remove, reword, or rearrange ideas as necessary.
6. Find an editor – Ask a classmate, teacher, or parent to proofread. 7. Edit the second draft – Add, remove, reword, or rearrange ideas as necessary.
8. Repeat steps 6 & 7 until you feel proud of your work!
